Syracuse gets blown out by Boston College, 58-27 (full coverage)

Coming into this one, we figured it was going to be a battle between the struggling Syracuse Orange and the similarly winded Boston College Eagles. Instead, we got what looked like a shootout, and then turned into a blowout. Boston College ended up waxing Syracuse, 58-27.

You knew the run defense would struggle right form the jump as SU’s front struggled to lay much of a finger on A.J. Dillon. Instead of adjusting, that wound up being a harbinger of worse results to come. On Saturday, the Orange wound up allowing the most rushing yards in school history, surpassing the previous high of 457 by West Virginia back in 2006.

PREVIEW:

Longtime Northeast gridiron rivals Syracuse (3-5, 0-4 ACC) and Boston College (4-4, 2-3 ACC) meet up again this Saturday for a noon kickoff at the Dome. The Orange and the Eagles have a long history, having played 52 times since 1924. It’s the fifth-most frequent rivalry in Orange history.

HOME COOKING
The proof is in the pudding – Syracuse prefers competing in the Dome. The Orange are 8-2 in the last two seasons at home and 14-9 in the Dome with Coach Dino Babers calling the shots.

Syracuse is 20-7 when hosting Boston College. The Dome record in the series also favors Syracuse, 13-4.
