The American Red Cross is assisting nine people from five families who became displaced by a fire Monday night at University Park Apartments in Lansing.
All of the residents got out safely, according to the apartment complex’s receptionist. The apartment complex is at 87 Uptown Road.
Roughly 15 people escaped from the fire, firefighters said. Six units had burns, and more sustained damage from the smoke caused by the fire.
Lansing firefighters and state fire investigators continued to be at the scene as of 11 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
