Even though we’re in the midst of fall, the New York State Department of Transportation is already looking ahead to winter.
Work has begun on snow plows to get them tuned up and outfitted for the coming months. New equipment is ready to hit the road when snowfall begins in the Rochester area.
As the DOT preparation continues, however, NYSDOT spokesperson Jordan Guerrein said crews in Rochester are still be sought for the winter.
“We’re ready now, but we’re still looking to hire some seasonal maintenance staff, equipment operators, mechanics, plow drivers,” Guerrein said. “We had more than 500 winter positions open here in this region and we still have about 20 positions open.”
