The New York State Police is requesting the public’s help with an investigation into the three-vehicle crash that killed two people near Exit 41 of the NYS Thruway early Sunday morning.
On Monday, state police said a preliminary investigation found the crash was caused by a driver going the wrong way in the eastbound lanes of the Thruway.
The names of those killed or injured in the crash continues to be withheld by authorities at this time.

Two killed in crash along NYS Thruway
Two people have died in a crash along the New York State Thruway near Exit 41.
The crash was initially reported around 12:30 a.m. west of State Route 89 near the Montezuma Wildlife Refuge.
Three other people were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital and Upstate Medical Center. One person is listed in critical condition at Upstate, while two others are listed in stable condition at Strong.
The crash is still being investigated; and Troopers say identities will be released when families have been notified.
The Thruway was closed for several hours as crews worked the scene overnight.
Troopers were assisted on scene by the New York State Thruway Authority, the Magee, Junius, Clyde, and Canoga fire departments, the North Seneca, South Seneca, Finger Lakes, Clyde and Lyons Ambulance companies, Seneca County Fire Coordinators Office, and the Life Net and Mercy Flight medical helicopters.
