Dr. Emil Lesho is an infectious disease physician at Rochester Regional Health. He says, when it comes to flu season, there is one thing experts can always count on.
“It’s predictably unpredictable,” Lesho says.
Based on early indications, he says what’s happening in other areas of the world leads him to believe this year’s flu virus could be more severe.
“Australia just finished up a particularly bad flu season, so if that’s any indication, it could be nasty flu season here,” he says.
Lesho recommends everyone get the flu shot immediately, but a manufacturing delay is creating a longer wait for the high-dose vaccine that older adults are encourage to get.
