Police respond to domestic incident in Ithaca

The Ithaca Police have issued a press release regarding a domestic violence incident in West Village tonight that resulted in the activation of the SWAT team.

At 9:42 p.m. Saturday night, Ithaca Police units responded to a report of a dispute at 150 West Village Place for a report of a dispute.

“The caller reported a physical fight possibly involving a knife,” the release said. “Upon arrival Officers were advised that the suspect had retreated into his apartment and subsequently barricaded himself inside.”

After several minutes lapsed with little or no communication from the suspect, the SWAT team and crisis negotiating team were activated however the suspect surrendered to police without incident and was taken in to custody.
