If the Syracuse men’s basketball team is going to beat the middle-of-the-pack expectations placed on it this season, the Orange provided a glimpse of how it can happen on Friday night during the team’s Orange-White scrimmage.
With about 2 minutes left in the first half, Brycen Goodine lobbed a pass to Marek Dolezaj in the high post. Dolezaj immediately flipped the ball, without looking, to Jesse Edwards underneath the basket for an easy layup.
It was the type of willingness to pass that Syracuse displayed throughout its trip to Italy and that head coach Jim Boeheim had talked up earlier at the team’s media day. The tic-tac-toe might have been the longest string of passes, but it was one of many plays that showcased a team of willing and capable passers and strong shooters.
