The Syracuse Crunch earned their first win of the season in a 2-1 victory over the Cleveland Monsters tonight at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
Alex Barre-Boulet opened scoring before Peter Abbandonato tallied his first professional goal to move the Crunch to 1-0-1-0 on the season.
Scott Wedgewood recorded his first win in his first start for the Crunch turning aside 31-of-32 shots. Matiss Kivlenieks stopped 22-of-24 between the pipes for the Monsters. Syracuse converted on 1-of-3 power play opportunities while going a perfect 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.
