Box truck driver ticketed after slamming into tractor, wagon in Hammondsport on Rt. 14A

Deputies say that a Hammondsport man suffered minor injuries when a box truck crashed into a tractor, which was pulling a wagon on Route 14A near Hoyt Road.

The crash happened on Wednesday around 8 a.m.

Deputies say Nelson Weaver, 29, of Hammondsport was traveling north with a wagon attached to his tractor when a commercial box truck collided with it from behind.

Fortunato Longok, 37, of Syracuse was operating the box truck; and was said to have then struck a DOT sign – coming to rest in a nearby hedgerow.

Langok was ticketed for failing to reduce speed and operating out of class.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Penn Yan Fire Department, Penn Yan Ambulance, Medic 55 and the Yates County Office of Emergency Management.
