It was an emotional Saturday for 81 Central New York Veterans who traveled to Washington, D.C. on Honor Flight Syracuse’s 14th mission. The group toured the monuments and memorials around the capitol alongside a group of volunteers.
For some, like 90-year-old Waterloo resident Bill Velte, it was their first time seeing the structures honoring their service. Velte was a soldier during the Koren War but is now a father, grandfather and even great-grandfather.
