Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his longtime partner Sandra Lee confirmed in a joint statement Wednesday they are no longer in a romantic relationship.
“Over the recent past, we have realized that our lives have gone in different directions and our romantic relationship has turned into deep friendship,” Cuomo and Lee said in the statement.
“We will always be family and are fully supportive of each other and dedicated to the girls. Our personal lives remain personal and there will be no further comment.”
A source close to both said they have told friends recently they remain best friends, but are no longer a couple.
The news was first reported by NY1’s Zack Fink.
Cuomo and Lee, a Food Network personality, had lived together in a Westchester County home and had first met in 2005.
Lee earlier this year put the home on the market and Cuomo has visibly spent more time in Albany during the summer, when the Legislature has not been in session.
