As people continue to struggle with different types of substance abuse disorders, experts are looking at how it relates to mental health and the way a local hospital is helping them.
“There are genetic predispositions as well as environmental factors that play a role in someone having a substance abuse disorder,” said Monika Taylor, the Director of Chemical Dependency Treatment Services at Crouse Hospital.
At Crouse, they have programs for people who are both actively using, and those who are in remission.
On any given day, they have about 1,200 active patients in their system coming in and out for treatment.
