When you should get your flu shot for it to be most effective

Flu season usually peaks in the middle of January, but health officials encourage people to get their flu shot well before that.

They say most people should get their shot by the end of October.

Each month after you get your shot, it loses between 6 to 10 percent of its effectiveness.

While it’s too early to tell how effective this year’s shot will be, typically the shot protects from about three to four strands of the flu.
