A man from Hornell was arrested early Friday morning on drunk driving charges after troopers said he crashed into a Wayland yard.
New York State Police were called to a home on Laf-A-Lot Road for the report of a car that went off the road.
A man who called 911 said there was a man passed out in the driver’s seat of the vehicle who appeared to be intoxicated.
Troopers arrived and found Adam Hughes, 24, had called his brother to get help out of a ditch. The car had gone off the road, down a 20-foot embankment and landed on a large pile of rocks. The homeowner told police he came outside because he could hear a car engine revving. When he came out to find the car in his yard, he tried to get to Hughes – who had locked all of the doors to the car.
