Lyons man accused of pushing child, threatening woman with knife

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Lyons man following an investigation into a disturbance.

Deputies arrested David Merkley, 38, of Lyons on Wednesday around 9:42 p.m.

He’s accused of pushing a juvenile against a wall; and when the child’s mother went to inquire about the situation – was greeted by Merkley with a knife.

Deputies say that Merkley possessed a knife at the door, then threw a glass at her, while making threats with the knife.

He was charged with second-degree menacing, and second-degree harassment. The charges will be answered at a later date.
