The man accused of killing a woman and her 14-month-old son in Sodus last May has pleaded guilty to causing their deaths.
Andrew Correia, the public defender for Alberto Ebarado Gutierre-Reyes, confirmed Wednesday afternoon that his client pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree manslaughter in the deaths of Selena Hidalgo-Calderon and her 14 month old son, Owen Hidalgo-Calderon. The plea agreement was accepted by a Wayne County Court judge Wednesday.
Gutierre-Reyes will be sentenced to 20 years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision on each count. Each sentence will run concurrently, meaning both sentences will be served at the same time, as opposed to back to back or consecutively.
A news conference with Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts and Wayne County District Attorney Michael Calarco is scheduled for Thursday morning at the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office in Lyons.
