The Seneca Falls Police Department reports the arrest of a 24-year-old following a child abuse call officers received on Tuesday.
Around 8:30 a.m. police received that report of an unattended child outside. Upon arrival, officers found the child reunited with the caregiver, who at the time, was the babysitter.
Police say that while Brianna Smith, 24, of Seneca Falls was caring for the child, she became distracted, which allowed a one-year-old child to exit the home, and walk across a street into a neighbors yard.
Smith was charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child for the lack of supervision.
The child was not injured, according to police. Smith is due back in court at a later date to answer the charge.
