Casella garbage truck fire caused by electrical problem, deputies say

Deputies say investigation determined that an electrical issue led to a garbage truck fire on Monday in Geneva.

Bryn Kwiatkowski, 24, of Newark was traveling south on Pre Emption Street in Geneva in a 2012 Mack truck carrying garbage when the vehicle caught fire directly behind the cab.

The truck was owned by Casella Waste Management.

Deputies say that investigation determined the fire to be caused by an electrical issue.

The truck was carrying a load of garbage in the rear of the bed, but was not involved in the fire.

Both Border City and Northside fire departments responded to the scene to put out the fire.
