With many children going back to school this week, many parents are concerned about the massive data breaches happening to several school districts in Central New York.
The breach impacted the company “Pearson,” a London-based firm. The breaches reportedly affected more than 13,000 schools and university accounts across the country.
While no social security numbers or other sensitive information was revealed, the Better Business Bureau advises parents to pay very close attention when filling out school forms.
“You definitely want to make sure that whatever form you’re filling out they actually need the information they are asking for,” said Better Business Bureau’s Communications Director, Melanie McGovern.
