Families will spend about $700 as kids head back to school this year, according to the National Retail Federation. Eighty percent goes to clothing, with shoes being the “big ticket” item.
Rita Edmonds has more than just a few reasons to seek out back-to-school bargains. She was shopping at Eastview Mall Tuesday with children, grands and friends kids in tow.
“Nine, ten, eleven, twelve,” she said, counting each of them out loud.
Last-minute shoppers will find plenty of sale offers in stores. Edmonds purchased two pairs of sneakers for her son – while sticking to her two basic rules.
