Nearly 148,000 people attended the NYS Fair on Saturday – a crowd so big that there were cars backed up on I-690 for miles all the way to the side streets.
“I’m going to be 55 years old now. I’ve been coming since I was probably 6 years old this year has been the worst year I’ve ever had to wait in traffic,” said Paul Blasi, a fairgoer who was stuck in the weekend traffic.
Fair officials say that the congestion was something they had never seen, and are already planning for next year.
“We all know it’s an issue. We’ve grown the attendance at the fair faster than we’ve been able to grow parking,” said Troy Waffner, Fair Director.
