Wayne County Sheriff’s Office launches mobile app

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has released an app this week to help keep people living in the area informed.

Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts announced Thursday that the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office app is free and available for download on iPhone and Android devices.

The app sends alerts, news, and resources. Two of those resources are Offender Watch, which allows users to search for sex offenders in their communities and Appriss Safety, which sets up searches for inmates in the Wayne County Correctional Facility.

People can also send in tips about ongoing investigations that are confidential or anonymous, depending on preference. Bail payments and commissary funds can be added using the app, as well.

“Our new smartphone app is an innovative way for us to keep our citizens informed and allow them to partner with us in public safety,” Sheriff Virts said.
