The International Joint Commission says Lake Ontario outflows have been reduced. This, as the lake’s water levels have reached 247.7 feet.
The IJC had raised outflow levels above limits set under Plan 2014 in an effort to bring down water levels.
This past spring – for the second time in three years – Lake Ontario saw devastating flooding along the shoreline, impacting residents and businesses.
Some neighbors have called on President Trump to help pave the way for them to sue the IJC over Plan 2014, which they say was responsible for heavy flooding this year and in 2017.
Friday, the IJC said the lake’s outflow level has been reduced to 10,110 m3/s – down from 10,400, which had been maintained between mid-June until this week.
