The Ontario County Humane Society says it has exceeded its fundraising goal as it cares for 85 dogs seized from a Naples home.
The “Naples 85” were suffering from various health-related issues when they were seized from the home of Jane and Richard Justice, Humane Society officials say.
The organization sought to raise $125,000 to care for the dogs, in addition to paying costs related to feeding the dogs and providing veterinary care.
Thursday, the Humane Society said it received more than $133,000 in donations.
“We are just blown away by the tremendous support we’ve received,” Shelter Manager Diane Faas said in a statement. “We cannot begin to express how grateful we are. Each and every dollar will be used solely for the good of the dogs in this case and applied to future cruelty cases that come to us. Sadly, we’ll endure this work in the future.”
