Serious crash in Ithaca sends five to area hospitals

A crash involving two vehicles has sent at ;least five people to area hospitals.

Tompkins County 911 dispatchers tell NewsChannel 9 that two cars collided in the 400 block of Elmira road, also known as Route 13, around 6:30 Tuesday night.

The scene is near Ithaca’s Buttermilk Falls.

One person was airlifted to a regional trauma center. The other four were taken by ambulance. There’s no word on the seriousness of their injuries.
Traffic is being rerouted away from the crash scene.

Ithaca City Police, New York State Parks Police and New York State Police are all on scene along with rescue personnel.
