Two people are facing charges after a stop for traffic violations led to a closer investigation that led to arrests related to drugs and alcohol.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says that a vehicle was stopped on State Route 20A in the Town of Richmond shortly after 1:30 on Sunday morning for parking on the pavement and a turn signal violation. However, the investigation soon turned up drug and alcohol violations, leading to the arrests.
The vehicle’s driver, 26-year-old Joseph Shulia of Farmington, was arrested for driving while his ability was impaired by both alcohol and drugs combined. It was also discovered that his passenger, 26-year-old Benjamin Carey of Victor, was in possession of cocaine, leading to his arrest for criminal possession of a controlled substance.
