Deputies: Waterloo man hit by car while standing in the middle of road

Deputies say a Waterloo man was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital after being hit by a car on Waterloo-Geneva Road around 10:50 p.m. on Thursday.

Investigators said a man from Maryland was driving on Waterloo-Geneva Rd. when he hit Benjamin Pardee, 37, who was standing in the middle of the road. Pardee lives just a short walk from where he was standing, according to deputies.

Pardee was flown by LifeNet air ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of head injuries.

No one inside the vehicle was hurt. Deputies noted that the driver of the vehicle does not appear to be at fault.
