A sweeping new law was signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday that adds a host of new workplace-harassment protections.
The bill, approved by the state Legislature in June, comes amid an ongoing spotlight on sexual harassment in the workforce and at the state Capitol.
“There has been an ongoing, persistent culture of sexual harassment, assault and discrimination in the workplace, and now it is time to act,” Cuomo said in a statement.
The measures will take effect at various points over the next year.
