Syracuse’s skyline has a new look thanks to a giant crane now in place next to the Carrier Dome.
The crane is being used to put on the Dome’s new roof. It’s part of a $118 million renovation plan, the first phase of which is expected to be completed by September 2020.
The crane, which is more than 500 ft. tall and weighs more than two million pounds, is one of the largest cranes in the country. When fully elevated, the crane is 580 feet tall, more than four times the height of the Dome.
