Two mass shootings within 24 hours in Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas have claimed a collective 29 lives and left many wounded.
In a statement released Sunday, Gov. Cuomo is calling for action from the federal government in preventing further mass shootings.
“This insanity must stop and it must stop now. Those who are unwilling to do anything about it are complicit. I am sick of the excuses. I don’t want to hear ‘we can’t’ – because we know we can, and you just don’t,” Cuomo said.
Cuomo says that New York is standing up for gun safety laws, and that Washington should do the same.
“Our hearts break for these families. On behalf of all New Yorkers, I’m sorry you live in a country with a Federal Government that allows this to happen and does nothing,” he said.
