Fire tears through Main St. building in Naples; one firefighter suffers minor injuries

First responders say cigarettes may have led to the fire, which tore through a building in Naples.

Around 2 a.m. firefighters say cigarette butts left in that pail were near cardboard that caught fire. It quickly spread to the roof.

The building is upwards of 100 years old and housed at least three apartment units – as well as a business on the first floor.

No one was hurt, but a few residents were taken to the hospital as a precaution. They were all released within an hour, according to first responders.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports that one firefighter was treated at a local urgent care for minor injuries sustained on-scene.

Firefighters from Bristol, Richmond, Cheshire, Naples, and Rushville assisted. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
