State lawmakers vow to help Lyons mobile home park residents; tenants still without power

State lawmakers are now stepping in to help tenants at a mobile home park in Lyons who have been without power for three weeks.

Some repair work has been done at Canalside Mobile Home Park, but there has still been no word on when power will be restored.

Thursday marked 21 days without power.

Tenants were told power would be restored by July 30.

But, as the noisy generators outside of some homes attest, it hasn’t been.

State lawmakers are fed up.

“These residents are not looking for handouts. They just want their electricity turned on,” said Sen. Pam Helming (R-54th Senate District). “They want to be back in their homes. They want some answers.”

Helming and Assemblyman Brian Manktelow (R-Lyons) are seeking to find answers.
