A proposal to build a new apartment complex in the village of Port Byron took a step forward Wednesday, as the village’s Zoning Board of Appeals voted to take lead agency status for the projects environmental review process.
DePaul Properties Inc., has proposed a plan to renovate the existing Church Street Apartments complex, as well as the neighboring gymnasium and auditorium from the former high school, into a 60-unit affordable housing complex, and is seeking a special use permit from the village to do so.
The zoning board on Wednesday voted unanimously to take lead agency status in the State Environmental Quality Review process, which is used to assess whether or not the project will have a significant adverse impact on the environment.
