Skydiver killed after plummeting into Wyoming County cornfield

A skydiver was killed in an accident in Wyoming County on Saturday.

According to New York State Police, the accident occurred around 12:04 p.m. near the Perry-Warsaw Airport in Wyoming County and involved three skydivers with the Rochester Skydivers organization.

Police say Richard Cordero, 68, of Bergen died after they believe his parachute became tangled. The diver then landed in a cornfield in an area south of Soper Road in Perry. CPR was performed on the injured diver but ultimately the skydiver was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the State Police.
