Some of them are in Upstate New York, according to U.S. News & World Report’s new 2019-2020 ranking of the top hospitals in the country.

Altogether 14 hospitals in Upstate New York were on the ‘best of’ list for New York State as a whole.

U.S. News ranks hospitals nationally for their expertise in treating the most challenging patients across 16 specialties, including cancers and complex surgeries, as well as 9 common procedures and conditions, such as heart disease.

Survival rates, patient safety, specialized staff and hospital reputation are key factors in creating the ranking.
