Arc of Seneca Cayuga receives CQL Accreditation for the second time

Arc of Seneca Cayuga received formal notification today that they have met the standards required to obtain accreditation from the Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL). The accreditation comes after a 4-day onsite visit by CQL reviewers who met with staff, community members, and individuals supported by the Agency. The accreditation renewal process was very rigorous and in-depth process which proved that Arc of Seneca Cayuga’s practices continue to align with CQL standards.

CQL has been the preeminent organization for more than 40 years in defining, measuring, and improving the quality of life for all people, including those with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

The person-centered philosophy championed by CQL is embraced by the Arc of Seneca Cayuga. With guidance and support from the Arc of Seneca Cayuga, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities make decisions based on their interests, passions, dreams, and desires.

“This process was a great opportunity for our Agency to ensure that we continue to be person-centered in the work we do,” Arc of Seneca Cayuga’s Executive Director Allen Connely said. “It was an excellent opportunity to take an in-depth look at the work we do, with the help of the individuals we serve and their families, and see how we can raise the bar even higher to succeed in our goal of providing a Lifetime of Opportunities.”

CQL accreditation was awarded as a result of the Arc of Seneca Cayuga demonstrating proficiency in the following areas:

(1) Basic Assurances (ensuring fundamental safeguards related to health, safety, and human security);
(2) Personal Outcome Measures® (supporting and empowering people to achieve their goals and dreams);
(3) Shared Values (ensuring accountabilities related to our interactions with people).

Staff and individuals supported by the Agency gathered at Vince’s Park on Friday morning to receive news of the accreditation.
