More than 8.5 million New Yorkers could be eligible for money or free credit monitoring under a settlement announced Monday between states and credit giant Equifax.
Now the Atlanta-based company has set up a website to find out what you may be entitled to at www.EquifaxBreachSettlement.com.
The site allows potential victims to register to see if their personal information was compromised in Equifax’s massive breach in 2017 that ultimately affected more than 147 million consumers nationwide.
The agreement requires Equifax to set up a $425 million restitution fund — $300 million initially and another $125 million if those funds are depleted.
