Auburn man gets prison time for stealing $1,300 from woman’s purse

An Auburn man who admitted to stealing personal belongings and more than $1,000 from a woman’s purse was sentenced Tuesday in Cayuga County Court to serve between two to four years in prison.

Steven Confer, 48, of 64 Grant Ave., Auburn, went into the employee room of the Salvation Army Thrift Store at 161 Grant Ave., Auburn, on March 18 and took a woman’s purse that contained $1,300 and personal belongings, Senior Assistant District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci said in court.
