The Auburn/Cayuga Branch of the NAACP on Monday called for immediate action to address systemic obstacles minorities face in hiring for Cayuga County government jobs in light of a county legislator’s comments on a related resolution earlier this month.
In a statement, the local NAACP condemned the comments made by Cayuga County Legislator Michael Didio, R-Auburn, during a county Government Operations Committee meeting July 9 on a resolution directing the county’s human resources department to explore options to increase diversity among applicant pools for county jobs.
