A Penn Yan man is facing charges after allegedly hitting a Sheriff’s deputy with his vehicle after leaving this weekend’s Lynyrd Skynyrd concert at CMAC.
Joshua Freeland, 24, has been charged with reckless endangerment, reckless driving, resisting arrest and failure to comply.
Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies allege Freeland did not follow orders from deputies who were directing traffic, turning in the direction opposite of where he was told to go.
Deputies reportedly stopped him and told him to head west on County Road 18. At this point, they said he accelerated eastbound, nearly hitting one deputy and striking another. The officer was knocked to the ground, suffering a non-life-threatening injury.
Because of traffic, deputies say Freeland was forced to stop. He allegedly got out of the vehicle and threatened deputies as he got closer to them.
