d’Arnaud’s 3rd homer beats Yankees in ninth

Travis d’Arnaud gave the Yankees plenty of trouble on Monday night.

Batting leadoff for the seventh time this season, d’Arnaud turned in the first three-homer game of his career, driving in five runs. The big blow was a go-ahead, three-run homer off Aroldis Chapman in the top of the ninth that gave the Rays a 5-4 lead after they were down to their last strike. Andrew Kittredge and Oliver Drake closed out the Yankees in the bottom of the inning to seal the victory.

d’Arnaud’s first two homers of the night came with the bases empty in the first and third innings off Yankees starter James Paxton.
