Both the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and the E-911 Emergency Communications Department are asking residents to sign up for the reverse 911 alert system that sends out alert notifications in emergency situations.
The county’s E-911 department uses the Hyper-Reach System to notify participants of emergency situations such as boil water advisories, inmate breaches, missing persons and other incidents.
Last week, the system was used to warn some county residents when Christopher Block, a convicted rapist out on parole, cut off his ankle bracelet in the Skaneateles area before being re-captured.
