Shores will not seek another term leading Waterloo school board

Mike Shores will not seek a new one-year term as president of the Board of Education at the annual organizational meeting Monday night.

Shores, of 2981 East Ave., is completing his third year as president of the nine-member board that he joined in 2010.

“I’ve told the board of my intentions. It’s time for someone new to take over,” Shores said.

His current term on the board expires June 30, 2020.

Four board members elected in April will receive their oaths of office and be seated. They are Coreen Lowry, Renee Thomas, Melissa Nicolini and Erin Brown. Leaving the board will be John Butlak and Nicohl Swartley.
