Waterloo woman charged with felony DWI after driving to park in Seneca Falls while intoxicated

On Sunday at 3:11 p.m. the Town of Seneca Falls Police Department arrested Sarah A. Smith, 32, of Waterloo following a civilian complaint of an intoxicated driver who arrived at Kid’s Territory Park on West Bayard Street.

The caller reported a female who was unable to stand or walk steadily after exiting a vehicle she had operated to the park. Police responded to conduct a welfare check on the driver to rule out intoxication or a medical emergency.

Police located Smith at the park and determined that she had operated the motor vehicle while intoxicated and she was placed into custody. She was charged with driving while intoxicated as a felony due to a prior DWI conviction and operating a motor vehicle with an open container of alcohol.

Police say Smith was processed and transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility to await arraignment. She will be due back in the Town of Seneca Falls Court at a later date to answer the charges.
