Police: Seneca Falls woman accused of stealing funds from Girl Scouts troop

On Thursday at about 4:30 p.m. the Seneca Falls Police Department arrested Jennifer L. Balliette, 40, following a two month fraud investigation.

Police say Balliette was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, falsifying business records, and scheme to defraud; all of which are felonies.

It is alleged that over the course of approximately three years Balliette was fraudulently using funds belonging to a Girl Scouts troop that she was a co-leader of for personal use totaling over $2,000.

Providing additional details police say the theft was in the form of multiple unauthorized ATM withdrawals, debit card purchases. They were described as ‘for personal use’ and ‘electronic transfers’ to her personal checking account in amounts ranging from $20 to several hundred dollars.

Police say Balliette would make deposits to cover portions of the fraudulent usage causing a net loss to the troop in the amount of $2,082.36. She maintained the financial records for the troop and was therefore able to conceal the suspicious usage.

Balliette was released on appearance tickets and will appear in Seneca Falls Town Court on July 11th, 2019 at 5:30 p.m.
