Loved ones gathered together Thursday, joined by members of the community, to help a family grieving the loss of a Zyvette Marquez Rivera.
The three-year-old was found dead in a pond at Casey Park last Sunday in Ontario, Wayne County.
Zyvette had been visiting the park with her family when she went missing.
Investigators have not yet released her cause of death.
A fundraiser was held for her family Thursday in Rochester. An online fundraiser has also been established.
Rey Mayoliz helped organize Thursday’s event at Avalon ROC. He said the funds will help the family pay for Zyvette’s family and any other expenses they’ve incurred.
“We just want to let them know that the community cares,” Mayoliz said.
Vigils were held earlier this week in her memory.
