A plan to stop Thursday meal deliveries for seniors in Cayuga County’s Senior Nutrition Program in the face of a budget shortfall will not move forward after the county Legislature voted Tuesday to provide additional funding.
The Senior Nutrition Program, which provides meals to more than 600 seniors in the county through meal deliveries and congregate meals, notified participants earlier this month that Thursday deliveries would be stopping in July due primarily to a shortage in state and federal funding.
