High water levels and flooding are threatening more than just houses and shoreline.
Lake Ontario’s rising levels are also impacting the ability of first responders to do their jobs.
Chief Peter Clarcq of the Point Pleasant Fire Department said he is worried for the people living in communities that sit along the shoreline.
“The quantity of the water to the level that it’s at is concerning,” he said.
Clarcq said it is much worse than what it was during the flooding in 2017. He said his crews are trained to respond to emergencies even if they occur in areas that are flooded.
