Ithaca man arrested for stealing chainsaws from Lowe’s and threatening employee with hatchet

An Ithaca man has been arrested after Ithaca Police say he stole several items, including chainsaws, from the Lowe’s on Fairgrounds Memorial Parkway, and threatened an employee with a hatchet on Tuesday, June 11.

Zachery Burlingame, 31, was arrested for robbery and menacing — he also had a bench warrant on previous theft charges.

After Burlingame threatened an employee with a hatchet, he took off to an area locals know as “The Jungle” where police found him in a tent with $1,300 worth of stolen property.

He was arraigned and remanded to Tompkins County Jail on $11,000 cash or $21,000 bond. He’s scheduled to appear in court on Monday, June 17.
