Lake Ontario’s water levels have exceeded those seen during 2017 – and those levels are expected to continue to grow.
The International Joint Commission said Monday the lake’s level reached 249.02 feet. Its peak in 2017 was 248.95 feet.
This comes as flooding conditions along the shoreline persisted Monday morning. A lakeshore flood warning remains in effect for Orleans, Wayne and Monroe Counties through 8 a.m. Tuesday.
The IJC said lake levels are expected to continue to rise in the coming days. It expects the peak level will be reached within the next one to three weeks.
